THIS is apropos your editorial ‘Murky waters’ (March 29). It is appalling to see the most prestigious and objective newspaper like Dawn falling prey to new media trend of feasting on the baseless allegations against military and its intelligence wings.

Today media activism and race to be highest in the rating is proving harmful for the repute of the intelligence agencies of the country, besides providing fodder to anti-Pakistan and anti-army elements.

Amid military operation against terrorists in the country, with tacit support of our intelligence wings, TV and newspapers need to shun this slur campaign of maligning Pakistan’s security establishment.

All media houses must realise that many in the regional and international media and press are on the lookout for such an opportunity to slander Pakistan and its premier intelligence agency. Their campaign is mostly inspired by the unfounded and baseless allegations by the Pakistani media against its intelligence agencies.

Who leaked the Khan-Alvi recording and for what reason still remains to be answered. However, putting everything and anything that lacks evidence to expose the real culprit on intelligence agencies can only be done through a tranquillised conscience. It is time our media, both electronic and print, woke up to rationality and stopped issuing certificate to our enemies to malign own intelligence agencies for it inflicted serious damage to the image of Pakistan and the prestige of the ISI.

Dawn has always been regarded high for its objectivity and fact-based views that needs to be preserved by avoiding storylines/views containing biased figments of mental illusions and fake contents.
