LAHORE: Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik on Monday took oath as chief justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) at a ceremony held at Governor’s House.

Acting governor Rana Iqbal administered the oath to Justice Malik. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, judges of the high court, provincial ministers and representatives of the legal fraternity were present on the occasion.

Later, on arrival at the LHC, judges and court officials welcomed the new chief justice at a reception.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Malik underlined the need for delivering comprehensive judgements on merit so that the need for appeals in higher court could be reduced.
