PESHAWAR, Sept 26: Additional District and Sessions Judge Sardar Mohammad Irshad granted pre-arrest bail to a former corps commander of Nangarhar, Haji Mohammad Zaman, and his two brothers, in a case of attack on a former Hizbul Mujahideen commander, Haroon Khan.

The court directed the applicants to furnish two sureties each of Rs50,000.

The public prosecutor objected to the sureties furnished by Haji Zaman, following which the court directed him to deposit Rs150,000, which would be returned after their verification.

Haji Zaman and his brothers, Amanullah and Amirullah, were charged by Haroon Khan alias Mast Gul in an FIR registered at the Faqirabad police station on Aug 31, accusing them of masterminding an attack on him.

Advocate Safeerullah Khan appeared for the applicants and argued that a man of Haji Zaman’s group had received injuries in the incident, following which an FIR was registered and Mast Gul was charged.

He contended that the three applicants were falsely charged in the case as none of them were present on the spot.

Mr Safeerullah produced passport of Amanullah and stated that he had  left Pakistan for Abu Dhabi on Aug 28 and had returned in September. He said the site plan of the occurrence and statement of the complainant were contradictory.

He said the main accused had been released on bail by the court, therefore the co-accused were entitled to bail.

He said the complainant had not received any bullet wounds.

The complainant did not appear.
