KARACHI: Third seed Yasir Khan overcame second seed Mohammad Abid in three sets to set up a final clash against his brother Aqeel Khan in the Modern Club Founder Members National Ranking Tennis Championship at the club’s court on Friday.

Yasir, who has remained a playing member of Pakistan Davis Cup team for many years before making exit last month, made his mark by imposing a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Abid in the second semi-final and will meet the country’s top player Aqeel who prevailed over Heera Ashiq 6-2, 6-2 the other day.

Top seed Muzammil Murtaza justified his credentials with an authoritative 7-5, 6-2 victory over second seed M. Raza Sawani to land the juniors under-18 crown.

The ladies singles title went to Islamabad’s Sara Mansoor who thumped Hania Naveed 6-0, 6-1 in a one-sided final. The men’s singles final will be played on Saturday at 4pm followed by the prize distribution ceremony.

Semi-final: Yasir Khan bt Mohammad Abid 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

Juniors under-18 singles:

Final: Muzammil Murtaza bt M Raza Sawani 7-5, 6-2.

Boys under-14 singles:

Semi-final: Nauman Aftab bt Houd Azhar 6-2, 6-3.

Ladies singles:

Final: Sara Mansoor bt Hania Naveed 6-0, 6-1.
