ISLAMABAD, Sept 25: Afghanistan have agreed to send their rowing team for competing in the 9th SAF Games in Islamabad.

Associate secretary of the Pakistan Rowing Federation (PRF), Rizwan-ul-Haq said on Thursday that Afghanistan team will be arriving in Islamabad soon.

“They will train at the Rawal Lake ahead of the Games,” Rizwan said.

With Afghanistan agreeing to take part in rowing, besides other disciplines, the number of teams in the competition will rise to four. Besides the hosts, Sri Lanka and India are the other sides in the tournament. “We are also hopeful that Bangladesh may also agree to contest the event.”

The SAF Games which start from March 29 next year were allotted to Pakistan again this month, after being postponed three times since October 2001.
