ISLAMABAD: Two doctors of the Federal Government Services Hospital (FGSH) have complained to the Aabpara police that they were receiving threatening text messages.
The police registered separate cases in response to complaints filed by assistant director Dr Khurram Ghumman and medico-legal officer (MLO) Dr Tanveer Afsar Malik.
Dr Malik told the police that he prepared four to five medico-legal certificates every day. “On March 3, I made a medico-legal certificate on the basis of findings suggested by another doctor.”
He said after the issuance of the certificate, he started receiving threatening messages from a mobile number.
He said recently cardiologist Shahid Nawaz Malik of Pims was murdered so keeping in view the situation strict action should be taken against the sender of the threatening message.
Dr Ghumman in his complaint told the police: “I have nothing to do with the medico-legal department but I received an SMS about a medico-legal certificate in which the sender threatened me with dire consequences.”
When contacted, the Aabpara police said an inquiry was conducted by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against a doctor of the FGSH for his alleged illegal appointment and using forged documents. Over the inquiry, a story was published in a newspaper. Later, the doctor along with his accomplices attacked and injured the staff of the newspaper.
Later, the police registered a case against the doctor and his accomplices on the light of a medico-legal certificate issued by the MLO.
The police said the executive director of the FGSH, Dr Zahid Hussain, also got a case registered against the doctor for seeking favour regarding the inquiry against him and his accomplice who had contacted him (ED) disguising himself as a legislator.
In his complaint, the ED stated that “On March 12, I received a call on my office phone number from a mobile phone and the caller introduced himself as MNA Rana Mohammad Hayat.”
The caller discussed the case of the doctor and sought favour for him, adding he also had discussed the matter with the secretary CADD, FIA, police and other authorities. The caller also threatened the ED to close the case against the doctor.
“Later, when the ED called the MNA on his mobile phone, he said he had never called him.
