QUETTA: Japan’s Consul General in Karachi, Akira Oachi, has said that gold, copper and zinc projects can attract foreign investment if peaceful and secure environment is provided in Balochistan.

Addressing business community at the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday, the Japanese envoy said: “Pakistan enjoys a great geographical position as it is close to Middle East and it is also one of the biggest markets of South Asia.”

In order to attract foreign investment, the country must try to resolve issues like law and order, power load-shedding and infrastructure, he added.

He said that 78 Japanese companies have been doing business in Pakistan in different sectors including automobiles, motorcycle industry, steel, pharmacy and others.

“We are also providing financial assistance to Pakistan to resolve its energy crisis,” he added.
