DADU, Sept 24: The district council on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution empowering union council Nazims to prepare annual confidential reports (ACRs) of doctors and teachers and employees of agriculture serving in the district.
Earlier, the district council members expressed their dissatisfaction over the working of health, education and agriculture departments. They also criticised the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco). Ali Mohammed Soomro presided over the session.
Nazim UC Haji Khan, Sikandar Leghari, said doctors were not performing their duties in remote areas so poor people were deprived of medical facilities.
He said hundreds of schools were lying closed in the Kachho belt as teacher were not attending these schools. He criticised Hesco for issuing inflated bills to consumers.
He demanded issuance of certificate and ACRs powers to the Nazims of UCs so that performance of employees of different departments could effectively be monitored.
Nazim UC Johi, Mohammad Usman Jamali, said the multinational companies, exploiting district resources, were not providing jobs to locals and carrying out development works in the area.
He said the royalty of gas should be given to the district government. Members through another resolution urged the multinational companies — BHP and Lasmo — to employee local people and carry out development works.
PIPELINE DAMAGED: Seven thieves damaged the pipeline of Parco, near the Dadu grid station, on Wednesday.
On learning about it, the town police arrived there and seized an oil tanker (GT-5797), heavy machinery and other equipment. However, the thieves managed to escape.
Police have registered an FIR under section 431-A PPC and 13 Anti-National Activities Act against the seven thieves.
