CHINIOT: Three women were killed and two others injured in a dispute over a marriage between two families on Monday.

The clash between two families of the Chichar clan erupted in Chak 14-JB, Kalroo.

According to preliminary reports, families of cousins Zulfiqar and Iqbal had an argument over marriages of women on their respective sides.

The women of both families exchanged harsh words over which Iqbal got infuriated and attacked Zulfiqar’s family. Nazima Bibi, 17, and Moondan Bibi, 18, died on the spot, while Alan Bibi, 50 sustained serious injuries.

When Zulfiqar’s son Shahid found out about the incident, he retaliated with a similar assault at Iqbal’s house, killing Safia Bibi, 74, and injuring another woman.

Saddar police registered a case and arrested Shahid, while Iqbal managed to flee from the scene. — Correspondent
