SHIKARPUR, Sept 22: Dr Mohammad Ibrahim Jatoi, National People’s Party (Sindh) president and MNA from Shikarpur, has opposed the Kalabagh dam terming it an anti-Sindh project.
He said this while addressing a party workers’ meeting on Sunday.
He said that the NPP would reject all the policies if made against the interests of the province.
He said that he would strive hard for the restoration of rights of Sindhi people.
He told party workers that the NPP had no intention to join or merge with any other political party “but options remain open for an alliance”.
The participants highlighted the problems and offered suggestions for reorganization of the party and expressed their full confidence in the leadership of the NPP chief, Ghulam Mustafa Khan Jatoi.
COMMITTEE CONSTITUTED: On the occasion, a three-member committee comprising Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Raja Riaz Jakhrani and Maula Bux Almani was constituted to organize the party in the province.
Among the others who addressed the gathering were MPA Abid Hussain Jatoi and Raja Riaz Jakhrani.
Our Nawabshah Correspondent adds: Activists of the Sindh People’s Students Federation staged a protest rally here on Monday against the construction of the greater Thal canal and the Kalabagh dam.
Sindh SPSF president Arshad Mughal and district president Sohrab Mari led the rally.
The procession started from the PPP office and after marching through the main roads terminated at the local press club.
Protesters were carrying placards and raising slogans against the construction of controversial projects.
They also demanded withdrawal of cases against Pakistan People’s Party leader Benazir Bhutto and her husband, Asif Ali Zardari.
