SIALKOT: The Daska City police registered a case on Thursday against 17 lawyers for torturing Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Malik Tariq Zia in his office on Wednesday.

According to the first information report (FIR), 17 lawyers stormed the office of the TMO and demanded an illegal favour. Upon his refusal, the accused detained him and thrashed and abused him. They broke his mobile phone and snatched official files from him.

The lawyers included Asad Sandhu, Mian Nasir, Salman Riaz, Daud Gul, Ejaz Ashraf Goraya and Maqbool Imam.

The TMA staff rescued their boss after breaking the office door. The FIR says the accused also tried to bundle the TMO into their vehicle.

Police have yet to make arrests in this case.

The TMA staff observed a strike for the arrest of the attackers. Sanitary workers did not work in the city creating problems for the public.
