LAHORE, Sept 21: A spokesman for the Punjab government said on Sunday that land of Okara military farms had been leased out to the Pakistan Army, and its proprietary rights could not be awarded to tenants.

According to a press release of the government, the Lahore High Court has also ruled out tenants’ stance that they should get proprietary rights.

The press release further said that there was no post of Rangers in the area, but a small force was deployed inside the military farms to deal with any untoward situation. These measures have greatly improved the situation on military farms, it said.

The press release appealed to the tenants to understand the correct legal position and not be misled by rosy pictures presented to them by “self-styled” leaders of Anjuman-i-Mazareen or some other group. —Staff Reporter
