LAHORE, Sept 21: The national identity cards being applied on an urgent basis are even being delayed by Nadra in Lahore, causing a great deal of inconvenience to the people.

The father of a girl, who needed the identity card for admission to the Punjab University, applied for the one on an urgent basis on Aug 28.

He paid Rs180 as urgent fee for the card and was asked by the NADRA’s Sarwar Road, Cantt, office to collect it after 20 days. The token number of the application was 308. But when he reached the office, he was informed that the application should have been filed in Bahawalpur, the hometown of the family.

As the father protested as to why the officials had not checked details of the applicant while receiving the application, he was asked to again approach the office after one week.

The father who is a government employee said that his daughter needed the identity card for admission to the Punjab University where he had to deposit his own card to temporarily fulfil the requirement.
