KGS, FPS claim tennis honours

KARACHI: Karachi Grammar School (KGS) and Foundation Public School (FPS) claimed a title each as the NBP Inter-school Team Tennis Cup came to a close on Sunday.

KGS won the title in the 16-18 age group with FPS prevailing in the U15 category with both teams incidenally facing off in both finals of tournament which was organised by Perfect Strokes at the Karachi Gymkhana tennis courts.

Maheen and Talha combined to give KGS the title in the 16-18 age group with the team coming from a match down when Maheen lost to Ibrahim before winning the other singles game and the doubles match.

It was sweet revenge for KGS who saw their U15 team being thrashed by FPS 3-0 in the other final.

Results (finals):

U15 category:

FPS bt KGS 3-0: Bilal (FPS) bt Amin Shafi (KGS) 6-7, 6-4,10-5; Noman (FPS) bt Mohd Dada(KGS) 7-6, 7-5; Bilal/Ahmed (FPS) bt Amin/Mohd Dada 10-5.

16-18 age group:

KGS bt FPS 2-1: Ibrahim (FPS) bt Maheen (KGS) 6-3, 6-4; Talha (KGS) bt Khizer (FPS) 6-0, 6-1; Maheen/Talha (KGS) bt Ibrahim/Khizer (FPS) 6-3.
