MULTAN: After Pakistan's shocking defeat at the hands of West Indies early Saturday, angry cricket fans were seen smashing television sets in Multan and mourned what was said to be the death of cricket for Pakistan.

'Mourners' sat around a bed of cricket bats in a mock funeral setting on MDA Road and raised their hands in prayer as they offered Fateha. The disappointed fans said it is time to focus on other sports because cricket has been far too upsetting.
"We stayed up the entire night for this match, I swear to God they have broken our hearts," lamented a cricket fan in Multan donned in a Pakistani cricket jersey.

Meanwhile, at Chungi No 9 enraged cricket fans protested and vented their frustration by smashing a number of TV sets with large batons. The cricket supporters also expressed that cricketers must be selected for the squad based on merit.

"We should bury cricket. We should not think about it. We should not play it. We should only focus on our national game hockey and other games such as football," said another disappointed fan.

A revitalised West Indies cashed in on a sensational Pakistan batting collapse to notch their first victory of the World Cup by 150 runs at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Saturday.
The Caribbean cricketers scored 310-6, with 115 runs coming in a swashbuckling final 10 overs involving Lendl Simmons, Andre Russell and Darren Sammy.
Pakistan in reply crumbled to their second straight defeat when they were all out for 160, failing to recover after the top four wickets fell in the first four overs for just one run, the worst start in one-day international history.
The West Indies, meanwhile, blocked out memories of their shock first up loss to Ireland as six batsmen posted scores of 30 or more.

What is this foolishness? Pakistani nation is just wasting their time. Pakistani team is weak team. They can be easily defeated by even zambabway or Bangladesh etc. They did not make any effort to earn potential to win in last few years. Plus the players are abusive enough and not willing to learn from their coaches. Team need to be in good form and should be able to recognize and fix their weaknesses to get success and Pakistani team is lacking those qualities as well as missing home matches and unable to host foreign teams due to worst security situation.

The amount of talent that the Pakistani cricketers have is phenomenal. We always used to envy you guys.
The only thing missing is professionalism in the management. If you guys get only two ex-players ie Wasim Akram and Rameez Raja it should be enough.

Hey, there are phases in a team's performance. Pakistan at one time had a very powerful team. And remember the time when West Indies used to be unassailable? Who had thought that England would one day become minnows?
Four years back, India was at the top, becoming T-20 and ODI world cups winners. Today, Indians have grave doubts about our bowling, that of being able to dismiss even a couple unless the batsman makes an error.

How would breaking your own property help cricket team?
Granted one team has to lose and one win, the lackluster performance twice does give us a credible evidence of improper training and motivation.
It is highly likely that some players did come in due to connections, hence the failed experiments
What we need is daily training of activities such:
- catches (We did see how many were dropped)
- clever batting (in all teams besides Pakistan, you can see batsmen looking for weak
spots in fielding)
- clever bowling (Concept much utilized in India's bowling as their bowlers force batsmen to fall for a with-in field shot for a catch and similar tactics, which pakistani batsmen fell for every time)
- strategic fielding (opposition batsmen studied and fielders position themselves
accordingly)
- Run co-ordination (Many a times pakistani batsmen get run out since they dont know
how to signal other to run or to stop)
- Realizing the urgency of matter (I see that players dont take into account the
skyrocketing run rate while they take pleasures in tuk tuk)
- Respect (No question about it, no one should disrespect the coach)
- Physical fitness ( See a football match, watch the leg muscles of the players. They tell how strongly the players are built for endurance)
At the moment, it does seem like players are there only for their monthly paychecks.

The players should not be treated badly.They have given their best.After Pakistan's defeat at the hands of India,the team listened to the advises of different cricket experts and retired cricketers in the country and changed their strategy wherever they could.If the team still lost the game,only one reason remains-they are inferior to other teams 'performances.Wait for the next game as there is still a next game to play and prove.

Those who discriminate on the basis of creed, culture or race shall perish. If we are loosing its cause we don't stay away from differentiation. We do no justice and this is just an example of doing no justice. What does the poor TV have to do with the loss of the match? We have to blame ourselves as we lack priorities as a nation. Those TV's cost money to buy and again new TV's will have to be bought.

Have learnt that demand of second hand TV sets in Pakistan has suddenly risen.
India,Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Nepal are obliging their closest neighbour by offering them old TVs free ,instead of selling it in Junk.
Such a warmth between these neighbous is setting up a new example in South Asia :)

There are bad times for every team. Pakistan has produced great cricketers and will continue to do so. Misbah is a great player and so are Afridi and Akmal. In old days it was a pleasure to watch Javed, Inzmaam and Imran for every Indian and Pakistani cricket lover. I liked Inzmam who always kept a smiling and tension-free appearance. May be the current team needs more time to consolidate and encouragement from the public. Please be considerate and don't write harsh comments. In one sub-continent we have 4 great teams.

Simply stated, low morale, lack of cofidence, and conflict among some players and couches, all leads to failure, Once a team loses cohesiveness its dificult to perform well. But then this is just like any other game some time one wins and of course sometime lose. One example of that is Tiger Woods,once known as the best ever in golf lost his confidence or so they say, can't even make a cut any more. so keep calm hold on to your TVs and hope for the best.

These very same people will once again worship the current lovers in Pakistan Cricket Team. India / West Indies had won in 1992 as well but we won the World Cup in 1992. Their is a deja vu feeling.

Don't dream anymore now about Pakistan doing good for the rest of the WC. That's for sure and defeats in the rest of the matches is glaring in their eyes. . They are mentally now in a state of shock. The PCB should be dissolved and run democratically on merit and without interference from the PM. Only then good news from the team will come.The whole country is in a mess, God Help these people.
