QUETTA: The Balochistan chapter of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) held a protest demonstration on Tuesday against proposed changing of the Gwadar-Kashgar route and demanded that the government should desist from modifying the project, warning that the move would divide the nation on the issue.

The protesters, holding placards, assembled in the front of the press club here and chanted slogans against the government for changing the project.

They said that under the old design the Gwadar port town would have been linked through new roads with Kashgar and the interior areas of Balochistan would have benefited.

They said the PTI would not allow the government to alter the route and it was in the interest of the nation that the original plan should be followed.

The protesters also criticised the Balochistan coalition over its silence on the matter.
