TAXILA: The Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) has provided all types of arms and ammunition the armed forces needed during the war on terror.

This was stated by Tabassum Rehman, the director exports at POF, while briefing the foreign participants of the National Security and War Course at the National Defense University, Islamabad on Monday.

The participants from Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Turkmenistan, UAE, UK, USA and Zimbabwe were on a day-long visit to the defence industrial complex.

The participants were led by Rear Admiral Moazzam Ilyas.

During the briefing, the director exports said POF was a vital defence installation of Pakistan and mandated to meet the defense requirements of Pakistan in war and peace.

He told the delegation that in the war on terror, POF had met all the arms and ammunition demands of the army.

He said in order to make the organisation self-sufficient and equip it with modern technologies, joint ventures with various countries were also in the pipeline.

Later, POF chief Lt-Gen Mohammad Ahsan Mahmood answer queries from the foreign defence officials about the arms and ammunition production and capabilities to meet the needs of the armed forces during peace and war.

The participants visited some selected production units where they took keen interest in the manufacturing process.

They also lauded the standard of the POF products and termed it a role model for other institutions of the country.
