Inter-region championship

PESHAWAR, Sept 19: Inter-regional hockey championship to be played on league basis and contested by 10 regional teams will commence from Sept 26 at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium.

Two teams each from D.I.Khan, Hazara, Malakand and host Peshawar while one teams each from Kohat and Mardan will be divided into two groups.

Syed Zahir Shah, who is also Chairman of the competition committee of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), has been named as organising secretary of the championship while international umpire Muhammad Asif will be the umpire manager.

Shariq Khan (Peshawar) will be Tournament Director (TD) while Tehsinullah Khan (Charsadda) will act as assistant tournament director.

A selection committee has been constituted to see every player performance during the five-day Championship in which 32 players will be selected for the one-month camp.—APP
