KP govt refers 423 cases for trial by military courts

PESHAWAR: Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday referred a list of terror suspects to the federal government for trial by military courts.

The 45-page report contains 423 cases of terror suspects for trial by military courts, which also includes the name of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Mullah Fazlullah.

Peshawar has the highest number of cases — 116 — to be tried by military courts, whereas the remaining 307 cases are from other areas of the province.

Most of the terror suspects were charged for attacks on security forces, government buildings, state installations and killing of civilians.

Tehreek Nifaz-i-Shariah Mohammadi (TNSM) chief Sufi Mohammad and Maulvi Faqeer are among other high profile suspects on the list.

A few of the terror suspects are awaiting trial in jail, while many of them are absconders in Afghanistan.

Well done KPK. This is how you handle terrorism. Civilian judiciary is still finding excuses to delay the judicial system and military courts are the answer.

Outstanding decision by govt of KPK. Where are IK,s bashes? Hope you have gotten answer that you always were misquoting IK as TTP,s sympathizer. He was against Military operation and drones due to collateral damage and killing of innocent lives in that operation and drones.

@Range Rover PTI had their concern on how Military Court amendment was being implemented. This could have been done by a mere change in Constitution rather than getting a vote in Parliament. There is a proper way of doing it. PTI rather wanted to strengthen the judicial system by giving them some military support. Good Job KP! Thumbs up PTI!

@Range Rover I think you are misinformed. PTI did vote in favor of the establishment of military courts. Although like many other party, this not a logical solution to create a parallel judiciary system against the existing one. But since the current judiciary has and has been failing so miserably, that military courts does sound like a logical solution. Also do not forget that PTI is the only party that has never done politics of weapon nor they have any links to militant organization. It takes courage to take action against these militant organization given the security challenges the country faces.
