LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has termed Chaudhry Sarwar’s resignation as Punjab governor an effort to expose rulers’ looting and plundering spree, bad governance and disappointing performance.

PTI Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhry, secretary general Dr Yasmin Rashid, Lahore president Abdul Aleem Khan and others said Mr Sarwar’s press conference was actually a charge-sheet against the rulers.

“The PML-N leaders’ absolute power being used for their own gains has been exposed world over,” Mr Ejaz observed.

He said the governor had been repeatedly trying to draw the attention of rulers to the issues like justice being denied to masses by dropping hints. However, he alleged, such attempts offended the “looters’ team led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif” and he removed the “irritant”.

Dr Yasmin Rashid said Chaudhry Sarwar had come from a country (UK) where the rule of law was supreme and justice was dispensed to everyone regardless of a citizen’s status or social position. She said the governor’s resignation was the first drop of rain that would soon become a “tsunami”, sweeping away the corrupt.

Abdul Aleem Khan said the governor Sarwar was not even allowed to play his constitutional role and his resignation was a slap to rulers’ inefficiency. He said the government would have to admit its “wrongdoings” sooner or later.

“How Mian brothers could work with other political parties, when they could not bear with the governor appointed by themselves,” Mr Khan asked.
