QUETTA: Police on Friday recovered five foreigners and arrested two kidnappers during an operation in Balochistan's Turbat city.
Imran Qureshi, the District Police Officer (DPO) told Dawn.com that the foreigners include three Yemenis and two Tanzanian nationals.
He said police conducted search operations in satellite town and overseas colony area of Turbat.
Qureshi stated that weapons were also recovered from the possession of the kidnappers.
He said arrested men were also involved in trafficking drugs to neighboring Iran and Gulf states. It has not yet be verified as to how the foreign nationals were abducted by the kidnappers.
"We are also interrogating the foreign nationals," Qureshi said. He stated that the police acted on intelligence reports and ensured that the foreign nationals were rescued unhurt.
Makran is considered to be transit route for human smugglers. Every day dozens of illegal immigrants sneak into Iran from the rugged mountains and deserts of Balochistan.
