FAISALABAD, Sept 15: The Punjab Medical College students protested on Monday against the government decision to affiliate their institution with the University of Health Sciences.

The students gathered outside the main campus and blocked traffic on Jail Road. They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the provincial government and the administration of Punjab University for what they claimed playing with their future.

They blocked traffic for about two hours on the main highway. They demanded immediate withdrawal of government decision to affiliate the college with the UHS.

They also refused to enrol with the University of Health Sciences for the MBBS examinations.

They announced that if their demands were not accepted within a couple of days they would march towards Islamabad and stage demonstrations in front of the Supreme Court building, Prime Minister’s Secretariat and President House.

The SP (city) rushed to the spot and assured the protesters that their demands would be sent to the high ups and efforts would be made to resolve them. On his assurance, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
