Besides runs.. I think the selectors are waiting for Fawad to give them his first born. It's so sad to see how a gem of Pakistan is being treated like this. Only reason he was excluded was because of Younis Khan's rant a few months ago about how PCB treated him. To smooth things over, they included Younis and gave Fawad the boot. Younis Khan may bring experience.. but that "experience" will cost us runs and games. No singles. Strike rate under 30. A huge injustice has been done here today.

Pakistan team should have been, 1-Ahmed Shehzad , 2-Sarfraz Ahmed , 3-Shoaib Maqsood , 4-Misbah , 5-Harris Sohail , 6-Umer Akmal , 7-Fawad Alam , 8-Shahid Afridi , 9-Junaid Khan , 10-Mohammad Irfan , 11-Sohail Khan/ Mohammad Talha (any right arm fast bowler) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We all know Afridi and Misbah will be in the team, no matter what and one slot has to be filled out by a wicket keeper. So basically we need to select 8 player out of 11. We also know Pakistan has been struggling in batting, We also know in Australia and New Zealand is a fast bowling paradise. Spinners will not be as effective unless you have spinner of Ajmal caliber. This selection above gives Pakistan, 7 pure batsman (remeber Pakistan's batting struggles), Afridi (bats one is a blue moon, but can bowl 10 over quota), and 3 pure fast bowlers (2 left arm and 1 right arm), 1 spinner in Afridi. The other 10 overs can be combined between Harris and Fawad. There is also another flexibility with this selection is that, you can always drop Sarfraz and have umer Akmal do the keeping and can add another bowler if conditions allow.

What is use of Ehsan Adil when there are 4 genuine fast bowlers? Would have been better to select an all rounder , Hammad Azam would have been ideal choice. He performed really well in Under 19 World Cup in Australia and was pivotal in sending Pakistan to finals.

Not picking Fawad is a big mistake, Sohail Khan and Ehsan Adil don' make sense. Shoaib Malik should have been considered as the all-rounder option.

@Nizar - When was the last time Malik played an innings of any significance? His days in Pakistan cricket have been over for quite a while - it's only a matter of him and followers accepting this as fact. Moin and his team have a done our nation a favour by leaving out Kakmal and Malik. They are nothing but bad influences inside a coherent dressing room. Barring the omission of Fawad Alam, and the retention of Hafeez, the squad looks balanced and with the right mix of experience and youth. We are bringing home the cup!!

I'm happy pcb did not pick FAWAD. he is underwight & no foot-work. Fawad can only play little bit on DEAD WICKETS.

Kamran can be used as an opener, down the order or as a keeper. Who is our back up keeper - Pakistan's tail cannot bat like other teams in the world. Shoaib Malik can gives us an all-rounder and he has been playing in Australia in their T-20 Competition, as has Tanvir. I feel there is not enough fire power at the bottom and lately the Team has been struggling to chase or defend totals.

@excalibur Given the current form of Younis, any selector in the world will prefer Younis to Fawwad. Btw Sohail Khan is also from Karachi.

Strange that only 49% people picked Hafeez. He is the highest run scorer for Pakistan since 2011 world cup and all guys like Shahzad, Misbah, Umar Akmal etc have played as much matches.

Junaid , Shoaib Maqsood and Umer Gul are not consider because of injury pron. Azhar Ali and Shoaib Malik are consider because of their bowling capabilities. Fawad is not consider because we need batsman who can score boundaries.
