PESHAWAR, Sept 14: NWFP Information and Public Relations Minister lqbal Daudzai has said that the government is keen to complete the ongoing development schemes in time so that the people could benefit.

Speaking at a religious congregation at a mosque in Khudra Khel village on Charsadda Road, the minister said redress of the people’s problems was the responsibility of the government. He said the issues related to the masses would be resolved on priority basis.

He said a delegation of assembly members from the province would meet federal cabinet members to demand the Rs2 billion grant announced by President Gen Pervez Musharraf here in March 2002 for the supply of gas to the people of the district. He said efforts were under way for the provision of gas to Daudzai area and a resolution had been passed by the NWFP Assembly in this regard.

He said he had met Sui Southern Gas Corporation General Manager to expedite the case. He said that he had included 15 villages of the Daudzai area, including Khudra Khel, in the scheme.

The minister said he had allocated Rs4.3 million for the development of the area, including Rs200,000 for the provision of electricity and construction of streets and drainage system at Khudra Khel.

He said that the process of enforcement of Shariah in the province would be completed with the passage of the Hasba act and a real Islamic welfare society would emerge.

He asked the people not to pay heed to the propaganda of the government’s opponents.—APP
