KG Veterans record friendly win

KARACHI: Karachi Gymkhana Veterans snatched a thrilling six-run victory over Omar Associates Veterans in a friendly match played here at the Karachi Gymkhana Cricket Ground the other day.

Jam Nafees blasted a quick-fire 38-ball 61, striking four boundaries while Mehdi Ali scored 28 as Karachi Gymkhana posted 175-6 in their allotted 22 overs while batting first.

Danish Fawad Khan (2-31) was the most successful bowler for Omar Associates with Ashraf Pakali , Ejaz Ahmed and Ashraf Khan claiming a wicket each.

In reply, Omar Associates captain Nadeem Omar and fellow opener Fawad Ijaz Khan made a solid start with both making 25 runs each.

Nadeem Sheikh hit seven boundaries and two sixes in an entertaining 35-ball 64 but couldn’t help his side to victory as they were restricted to 169-7.

Masroor Mirza (2-24) and Akhter Muneer (2-48) bowled well for Karachi Gymkhana with Saleem Yousuf and Kamran Hussain taking a wicket each.—Agencies
