ISLAMABAD, Dec 21 : A number of foreign missions have assured their support for the concert being organized by Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) to raise funds for the Afghan children, victims of war and drought.
Consensus on the concert was reached in a preliminary meeting held on Friday at the PNCA with Director General PNCA Raja Changez Sultan in the chair. Ms Ingeborg Breines Director/ Representative Unicef and Mr Hajimie Kido, Director Press Embassy of Japan also participated.
The PNCA has planned a concert by Pakistani child artistes on January 26 and 28, 2002 at Islamabad and Rawalpindi respectively.
In Islamabad the concert will be held at the National Library of Pakistan Auditorium and in Rawalpindi the venue will be Liaquat Memorial Hall.
The participants will include Majid Mirza, Wali Fateh Ali (vocalist), Saima and Waqas (dancers ), Adnan (vocalist) and Faisal (tabla player).
The PNCA officials said all the donations and sale proceeds will go towards the welfare of Afghan children.
It has appealed to the philanthropists to come forward and help the younger generation of Afghanistan.
Raja Changez also informed the meeting of the forthcoming Potohar festival and truck art festival for which Unesco and Unicef promised to contribute to make these events successful.
It will also hold Art Bazaar on January 6 at the National Art Gallery where senior and junior artistes will put up about 40 stalls.
