LAHORE, Sept 13: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has approved the establishment of an independent department of Special Education to give more attention to the education and training of special children.

Earlier, the special education was an attached department of the education department. Sohail Masood has been appointed as secretary of the new department.

The chief minister said special children could become self-supportive and lead successful life through education. It was a national and moral duty to look after the educational needs of special children, he added.
