ISLAMABAD, Sept 13: Sri Lankan Interior Minister Johan Amaratunga has said Nadra‘s technological advancement is most modern in the region and will definitely help Pakistan in its e-government projects.

Mr Amaratunga stated this during his visit to Nadra headquarters on Saturday where he was briefed about the Authority‘s working by Chairman Nadra Saleem Ahmed Moeen.

The Sri Lankan minister said Nadra‘s efforts would be a base for national development and progress which would bring Pakistan in line with the most modern countries benefiting from Information Technology.

He said his country was also planning to initiate such a project for which bids had already been invited through open tenders and proposals from different countries were under technical evaluation.

He said with the availability of authentic database, the macro and micro level planning and decision-making would become easier and within the reach of executives as well as planners.

He said creating a database of 48 million population in just two years time would have been a gigantic task and Nadra seems to have completed it impressively.

Earlier, Chairman Nadra Brig Saleem Ahmed Moeen (retd) said all projects of the National Database and Registration Authority were indigenous as well as software being used by the authority had been developed by Pakistan professionals.

“We have introduced a system of online verification of an individual”. Such systems are available in the developed world and discourage fraudulent activities, as each identity card would be verified on line for its authenticity before carrying out any financial or material transaction.
