MIRPURKHAS: A man allegedly axed his niece to death and seriously injured her companion in a fit of anger in Ahmed Khan Banglani village near Mirwah Gorchani town on Thursday.

Mirwah Gorchani police said that Gul Mohammed Banglani aka Gullan attacked Panah Khatoon and Ishaque Banglani with an axe after objecting to their frankness.

The suspect fled leaving both of them in a critical condition.

The victims were rushed to the Mirwah Gorchani rural health centre but the woman succumbed to her injuries on the way.

The injured man was referred to the Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital by doctors at the health centre due to his precarious condition.

Police were engaged in negotiations with elders of the Banglani community for the custody of the suspect till last reports came in at around midnight.
