PESHAWAR, Sept 12: Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao) leader Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao MPA on Friday slammed the NWFP government for registration of a case against Dera Ismail Khan District Nazim Latifullah Alizai.

In a statement issued here, he deplored the manhandling of the Nazim by certain elements allegedly at the behest of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leadership. He said such steps would aggravate the political confrontation.

He termed the incident interference of the provincial government in the affairs of district government.

He criticized the MMA government for its intolerance towards the local government system. He said the provincial government was bent upon destroying the devolution plan.—APP

He said meddling by the government in local bodies had resulted in a crisis in the province.
