KCCA flays selection of probables

Published September 12, 2003

KARACHI, Sept 11: Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) was shocked over the glaring omission of several deserving cricketers from the city from the list of 34 probables invited for trials for selection of team for Emerging Nation Tournament in Sri Lanka later this month.

According to a press release issued on Thursday KCCA had claimed that it appears that Karachi selectors in the national selection committee were not aware of the consistent performances of Khurram Manzoor, Adeel Malik, Naim Ahmed, Muhammad Ali Zafar, Fahad Iqbal, Sharif Asadullah, Tabish Khan and Faraz Patel.

KCCA had urged PCB chief, Lt. Gen Tauqir Zia and chairman selection committee Aamir Sohail to consider these promising cricketers on merit so that justice could be done.

The list announced by the PCB include 17 players from Lahore while only five cricketers from Karachi were named amongst the probables.
