How about Zardari University, Bilawal University, Nawaz Shareef University, Shahbaz Shareef University, Maulana Fazlur Rehman University, and most of all, don't forget the most famous politician of Pakistan, Honourable Mr. Rehman Malik. Government of Sindh should donate 1000 acres of public land for each of these universities.

@SHR - please check their devotion and funds contributions to the university. Baylor raised private funds to establish the university. What did Altaf do for university. He can not even establish a quality school

Naming a university in the name of someone who is the sole reason for destroying the educational standards in Karachi.

By endorsing the creation of the Altaf Hussain University the Sindh Assembly has finally succeeded in hitting the MQM below the belt where it was begging to be hit, not that the other political parties deserve anything better.

It is a shame a private business man building a university in Sindh instead of this corrupt sindh govt.

When an institution is given a name,its usually because of someone puts up majority of the money as a donation,in this case,did Altaf Hussain pay??? I don't understand how since people of Sindh pay for Hussain to live a grand life in London while they sleep in the dark on empty stomach.

When political parties start naming airports,universities and other institutions after their leaders dead or alive,one can see the motive from thousands of miles away.

@billal Do you know that 50 percent of educational institutions in the world's third economy India, is named on leaders, like Nehru, Indra, Rabindranath, Surendranath (the scientist) and so on. And India is better off than Europe in terms of high tech education, only two days before Facebook offered 2 crore Indian Rupees to a 24 year old engineering graduate.

Why not name it - Dr. Imran Farooq University , one of the founding members of MQM. He was assassinated in London and no one among MQM cadre cares.

I really appreciate this decision to make an university rather then build a Palace. It is meaning less for us to give the name of any politician, On other hand we want quality of of education to compete with internationally.

Keep up the good work and hope these universities will bestow and impart the best knowledge and skills to young generation. I don't understand the rational behind negative comments by many people and I am sure most of them neither belong to Hyderabad nor to Karachi. Stop spreading hate and make Pakistan a peaceful country. Your perspective on everything comes from the cage you were held captive in. Stop being biased and appreciate good deeds.

Why do we need Sindh Assembly approval to open more private Educational Institutes in Pakistan? I can understand if Sind government wanted to open government run Universities, but they will do this as long as PPP is in power. This is fact is PPP party has always been against opening new universities and colleges in exterior SIND, so Sindi speaking poor people stay uneducated, so it will be easier for PPP to control their votes.

The proposed institution name will look like "Altaf Hussain University, Karachi" and Altaf Hussain University, Hyderabad. If these names stay, it is unlikely that these universities will gain quick momentum and support from high up with in community and outside the community. History reveals that political names wont last. I appeal to Altaf Bahi to take a bold step and do not allow his name to be given to the proposed institutions and will suggest secular names - such as "Karachi Technical University (KTU), Karachi, and Hyderabad University of Management Science, Hyderabad. (HUMS).
