KARACHI: One of the suspected robbers killed in the Wednesday botched robbery attempt at a mobile phone shop has been identified as a serving police constable, said an official on Thursday.

“The deceased was Yasir Ahmed, 26, a police constable posted at Security Zone-1,” said Shah Latif SHO Ali Hassan Shaikh.

The two suspects and the shopkeeper were killed in an exchange of fire at the shop near Murghi Khana, off the National Highway. He added that the deceased originally hailed from Attock.

In reply to a question, the officer said the shopkeeper, Zahid Hasan, 48, was a social worker in the area, but the kil ling was the outcome of the robbery bid.
