No place for 2011 hero Yuvraj in India's World Cup squad

NEW DELHI: All-rounder Yuvraj Singh has been left out of the India squad which will defend the 50-over World Cup title he helped them win in 2011.
Adjudged player of the tournament when India won the World Cup at home, there was no place for the southpaw in the preliminary squad announced on Thursday.
Gautam Gambhir, who top scored for India in the 2011 World Cup final against Sri Lanka, was also omitted from the squad for the Feb. 4-March 29 tournament in Australia and New Zealand.
Fellow opener Virender Sehwag, paceman Zaheer Khan and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh are the three other members from that victorious team who were not considered for the tournament.
The Indian board did not elaborate on the make up of the squad in a statement issued after the selectors met in Mumbai.
Though all those excluded are prominent names, their omission was not a big surprise since none of the players had featured in India's recent one-day squads.
Yuvraj returned to international cricket this year following cancer treatment having been named in the squad for the Twenty20 World Cup in Bangladesh but he struggled to regain his form.
Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, top and middle order batsmen Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin are the only survivors from the successful 2011 squad.

A. Rahane, R. Sharma, V. Kohli, S. Raina, MS Dhoni, R. Jadeja, R. Ashwin, B. Kumar, A. Patel, M. Shami, and A. Rayudu/U. Yadav depending on wether to take extra bowler or batsman. I think taking extra bowler will be more beneficial. V. Aaron is hyped up for Australian series but his 2014 stats are not so good....

There is a valuable lesson to learn for our highly biased, incapable and stupid pakistani selectors; while India has recognised the importance of going forward with youngsters in form ignoring the past laurels of the veterans, our chief selector had a brain fade moment when he dropped the in-form Fawad Alam. Big fan of Younis but i feel he should make way for youngsters like asad, fawad. haris and sohaib. Same goes for misbah, he should pack his bags after WC

In other area pakistan is far behind than India on any kind of pitches.

Perform or perish. Doesn't matter if you were a top scorer or a player of the tournament.
Message is clear to the picked up player as well.
Also on big large grounds of Australia would those old horses (yester year's hero's) run to chase a ball ?...that also make sense of dropping them.

@arun just jealousy and hatred. The reality of India's financial clout, IPL, India defeating them in every World Cup has rattled some Pakistani fans badly. Over and above Pakistani players not allowed in IPL, their players are convicted of spot fixing by third country are too painful to be tolerated.
