Bangladesh to host AFC U-20 championship

Published September 11, 2003

LAHORE, Sept 10: Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has allotted its Under-20 championship qualifying round Group-V to Bangladesh. Nepal had also bid to host the three-nation competition also involving Pakistan. The event will be held at Dhaka from Oct 19 to 23.

Pakistan Football Federation had made some changes in finalising  the team for the contest.

Earlier, PFF held two day trials at Islamabad on Aug 25 and 26 and picked up 50 probables. It had to reduce the probables to  30 by Sept 8 as the camp progressed.

But the camp was closed as the two coaches Tariq  Lutfi  and Siddique Sheikh had left for Karachi to observe some more probables of departmental teams who were busy training with their teams for the PFF Cup to be held at Quetta from Sept 17.

PFF is  to  submit a list of the team to  AFC  by  Sept  18. However, PFF is unaware when the coaches will hand over the  list of the team.
