PESHAWAR: Road plans discussed

Published September 11, 2003

PESHAWAR, Sept 10: NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has stressed the need of expediting work on the construction of roads in the province.

Talking during a briefing by the Frontier Highway Authority about its ongoing projects held at the Governor House here on Wednesday, the governor expressed concern over the delay in the widening and improvement of certain roads.

About the National Highway Authority’s offer that it could take over the Nowshera-Chitral road project with all its resources and liabilities, he said it would definitely prove helpful not only in enabling commuters to have better communication facility but also relieve the province of an extra liability.

Similarly, he added, it could also result in the refund of the investment already made to the tune of almost Rs250 million on the project.—Bureau
