Transparency

Published November 28, 2014

THE Secondary School Education Department of Balochistan has recently announced posts of teachers of various cadres. For ensuring merit and transparency in recruitments, services of National Testing Service (NTS) have been hired.

Recently, vacancies of non-gazetted staff have also been announced in other departments. But, sadly, appointments are being made on political basis. Merit and transparency is largely being ignored, casting gloom over talented but apolitical youths of the province.

I suggest that appointments on non-gazetted vacancies in all departments should also be made through the NTS. All such appointments not only help in curtailing unemployment and poverty but also boost the performance of the departments.

Lastly, services of the Balochistan Public Service Commission cannot be ignored in appointing gazetted officers. Initiatives should also be taken to make this institution more effective and transparent.
