NSC clarification

Published November 23, 2014

THIS refers to two letters on National Savings (Nov 12 and 14). The grievances of citizens are given due weight by the department. The policy to switch from the manual to automated system is under way.

The first phase of the automation project has been completed and more than 100 out of 372 National Savings Centres (NSCs) have been computerised, while the second phase for automation of remaining NSCs is under progress. Necessary funds for the project have been allocated and work is to be initiated.

Moreover, the government has lifted the ban on recruitment for government jobs and National Savings Officers will be inducted. After recruitment, which is likely to be completed by the end of December, there will be a visible change.
