KARACHI, Sept 9: Various parts of the city remained in the grip of water shortage for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday whereas different parts of Orangi, Baldia, Shershah have been facing acute water shortage since long.

The hard-hit areas include an apartment building, Oommen Resorts situated in Catholic Colony No-2; parts of Muslimabad; blocks 2, 13, 13-C, 13-D/2 (Jamali Goth), and 4-A of Gulshan-i- Iqbal; sectors 5-C/1, 11-C/1, 11-C/11, 5-A/2, 5-B/2 of North Karachi; block 16 of Buffer Zone, blocks 4 and 5 of Gulistan-i- Jauhar, and block 14 of Federal B’ Area.

Residents of the affected localities complained that although water shortage problem had been lingering for the last five days, the concerned officials of the water and sanitation department have failed to restore the supply so far, despite a number of complaints lodged with them.

People residing in the Catholic Colony’s Oommen Resorts complained that they had been experiencing acute water shortage for the last one month, as the water and sanitation department’s concerned officials had curtailed the timings of supply to their locality.

Residents of Federal B’ Area’s block 14 complained that the one-day weekly water-holiday was normally extended to four days.

According to the residents of Orangi’s Chandni Chowk, Madina Colony, Gaddafi Chowk, Benazir Colony, Baloch Colony and other tail-end areas, water is supplied to them once in a week.
