GUJRANWALA: A 60-bed hospital and a vocational training institute have been made operational in the local central jail. Inspector General of Prisons Farooq Nazir inaugurated the two projects on Thursday.

He also inaugurated 24 public booths, beautician classes and a sewing training centre for women and a park for infants and their mothers equipped with a television lounge and toys. Jail Superintendent Kamran Anjum and other senior officers accompanied him.

SEMINAR: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and United Nations agency on drugs and crime jointly organised a seminar on human trafficking at a local hotel.

The central judge, special court, Mian Murid Husain, presided over the seminar while FIA Director Dr Usman Anwar, District and Sessions Judge Sardar Naeem and international consultant Arsalan Malik spoke on the occasion.

The FIA produced before the audience three people who narrated their ordeal at the hands of human agents.
