QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Malik Baloch has directed authorities concerned to remove hurdles in way of efforts being made for improving law and order and performance of education and health sectors in the province.

He was speaking at a meeting held here on Tuesday to review progress of development projects and law and order situation in the province.

He said that delay in implementation of decisions made earlier and completion of the projects launched for public welfare would not be tolerated.

He sought reports about vehicles to be provided to officials of district administrations, holding of next phase of local bodies’ election, awarding the status of university to the Bolan Medical College, setting up of boards of intermediate and secondary education in Turbat, Khuzdar and Loralai, recruitment in different government departments and decentralisation of powers in the health department.

He expressed displeasure over delay in the construction of the divisional educational enclaves and directed officials concerned to hold next phase of local bodies’ elections as soon as possible.

Mr Baloch issued directives for appointment of college lecturers through the Balochistan Public Service Commission after advertising posts in newspapers.

He said vacant posts in other departments should be immediately advertised and filled through the National Testing Service.

The chief minister told authorities concerned to monitor work on respective development projects and ensure their completion on time.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (planning and development) Ali Zaheer Hazara, Home Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani, Education Secretary Ghulam Mohammad Sabir, Secondary Education Secretary Abdul Sabour Kakar, Local Government Secretary Hafiz Abdul Basit, Health Secretary Irshad Bugti, Finance Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani and acting IG Ahsan Mehboub.
