I WAS approached for help by the father of a five-year-old boy, Daniyal, who has been diagnosed with aplastic anaemia.
The approximate cost of a bone marrow transplant was calculated to be Rs2.2 million and a post-transplant maintenance of Rs40,000 per month if the BMT is successful and he survives. The cost of testing donors for a match is Rs22,000 per match.
His father is a rider with a private company, while they have promised him a substantial amount, it is not equal to the amount that is needed. I, together with sympathisers, am trying to collect this for the little one’s right to life.
Doesn’t the responsibility of providing the child the right to survive rest with the government?
