LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Punjab parliamentary party has decided that opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Mahmoodur Rasheed will lead party MPAs for verification of their resignations at 11am on Friday (today).

The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by Mr Rasheed and attended by party MPAs and vice-chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

The meeting also constituted committees comprising MPAs to organise and ensure a successful November 30 protest in Islamabad.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Qureshi said the present assemblies were not representative of the masses but an outcome of ‘rigging’ and the PTI had been protesting against it from day one.

He said Nawaz Sharif had also no moral ground to continue his rule and added that he should resign for the sake of democracy.

Mr Rasheed said the PTI MPAs had submitted their resignations en mass as per party decision but the Punjab Assembly speaker did not accept them.

He said the PTI MPAs would now visit the assembly and urge the speaker to accept their resignations.

Meanwhile, PTI is finalising its plans for a massive gathering at Muzaffar Ali Stadium in Sahiwal on November 15.

In this connection, PTI Lahore president Abdul Aleem Khan on Thursday addressed a gathering of party office-bearers and urged them to utilise their potential and resources to make Nov 30 Islamabad protest a success.
