MULTAN: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Secretary-General Jahangir Tareen claims the National Database and Registration Authority report regarding NA-154 has vindicated his party’s stance that 2013 polls were ‘massively rigged’.

In a press release issued here on Wednesday, Mr Tareen said non-verification of 122,133 votes and absence of CNIC numbers on 20,601 votes proved that a massive and organised rigging was resorted to during the last general elections.

He said justice could not be expected from a government that had come into power through rigging. “How a government that had come into power through rigging could be declared democratic,” he said.

He said the massive gatherings at the PTI public meetings was a proof that people did not consider the incumbent government democratic and they trusted his party.

“Our political struggle has awakened the public and now they cannot keep themselves away from political and government affairs,” he said. He claimed fissures had started appearing in PML-N speedily due to ‘injustice’.

“The resignation of the prime minister is our basic demand as transparent investigation into rigging is not possible in his (Nawaz’s) presence,” he added.

khakwani: PTI leader Ishaq Khakwani has questioned the presentation of Nadra report on NA-154 carried by Dawn on Wednesday, saying it does not give true representation of the facts.

Khakwani is of the view that following facts in the report should have been highlighted: Out of 218,000 votes only 73,707 were found verifiable. Over 22,000 votes were held invalid as they carried invalid CNIC numbers or were without numbers at all etc. Out of 304 polling stations, only 290 were examined by Nadra and 14 remain unaccounted for.
