TAXILA: The local police on Wednesday claimed that they have foiled a terrorist plan and arrested a suspect with large quantity of arms and ammunition allegedly to be used for disturbance during Muharram.

Police chief DSP Saleem Khattak, while briefing media, said acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a car (bearing number RIZ-399) on Brahma Road and during search, recovered as many as 15 pistols of 30 bore and about 7,500 bullets.

He said the suspect identified as Amjad Hussain, a resident of Fatehjang, was arrested. A case has been registered against the accused who has confessed to smuggling arms and ammunition from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to Punjab. He said after the incident, checking on entry and exit points had been further intensified.
