ISLAMABAD: Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) has sought permission from the Punjab government for establishing sub-campuses at two government colleges in Rawalpindi.

Speaking at the ‘Laptop Distribution Ceremony’ held at FJWU on Wednesday, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Samina Amin Qadir requested the Punjab government to declare Satellite Town Women College and Viqarun Nisa Women College as constituent colleges of FJWU.

She said this will help expand the sphere of quality education in Rawalpindi. Later, speaking to Dawn, Dr Samina said: “We have written a letter to Chief Minister Punjab to request the establishment of sub-campuses at the two colleges,” she said.

Under the Prime Minister Youth Programme, 45 laptops were distributed among PhD and MPhil students of FJWU. The vice-chancellor said in the next phase, over 1,300 laptops will be distributed among the students of Masters and Bachelors.

MNA Maryum Aurangzeb was the chief guest at the ceremony while representatives from the Higher Education Commission and other officials attended the ceremony. Addressing the students, the MNA elaborated upon other initiatives of the Prime Minister Youth Programme and appreciated the efforts of students.
