LAHORE: The Young Doctors’ Association (YDA), Punjab, has warned the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) to reinstate in service the doctors by Thursday or agitation would be extended to all hospitals of Lahore.

The YDA also vowed to take up the “illegal” termination of the doctors with the Punjab Healthcare Commission and the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan if the matter was not resolved by the deadline.

YDA President Ajmal Chaudhry told reporters on Monday outside the SKMCH&RC the management disgraced Pakistan’s first pediatric cancer consultant Dr Shazia Riaz and terminated her from service.

He said the institute issued notice to Dr Riaz on September 29 and then sacked her the very next day.

He said the institute also took the same action against her FCPS trainees for raising her termination.

“If the institute did not reinstate them in 72 hours, the YDA will make public the corruption matters of the institute,” Dr Ajmal said.

He said the YDA has finalised plan to raise the voice of the sacked doctors to all relevant forums

On the occasion, Dr Ajmal also announced new office bearers of YDA chapter of the Shaukat Khanum Hospital.
