Remarkable turnaround for record-breaking Younis

Veteran batsman Younis Khan overtook batting great Inzamam-ul-Haq as the most prolific century-maker in Pakistan Test history with twin centuries in the first Test against Australia.
The 36-year-old has also become the first batsman in more than 40 years to post twin centuries against Australia - New Zealand's Glenn Turner did it in 1974
Younis scored 106 on the first day of the match in Dubai, his 25th Test hundred drawing him level with former skipper Inzamam as the country's top century scorer in Tests.
He grabbed the record just three days later, finishing unbeaten on 103 in Pakistan's second-innings total 2-286 on day four, an overall lead of 438.
Younis record feat came in just his 92 Tests, compared to 119 matches by Inzamam and he became the seventh Pakistani batsmen, but first against Australia, to score twin hundreds in a Test.
Hanif Mohammad (1964), Javed Miandad (1984), Wajahatullah Wasti (1999), Yasir Hameed (2003), Inzamam-ul Haq (2005) and Mohammad Yousuf (2006) had also achieved the distinction in the past.
Younis's milestone comes as a remarkable turnaround from events just a month ago where he was involved in a public tussle with the Pakistan Cricket Board over the selectors' decision to drop him from the ODI series against Australia.
"Don’t select me, not even in Tests. I sacrifice my future," he had said.

What a player. Has gone to prove time and again his value for his team and country. I am sure the board would now be thinking of ways and means to draft him into the One day squad for he would lend that degree of stability in the middle order along with Misbah.
A shame with so much potential the Pakistan team should have been a force in the world cricket but ends up flattering to deceive. So many talented players - Saqlain, Mustaq, Yousuf, Danish to name a few, all fell by the way side. Could have flourished with strong backing by the board and the country. The fans too are fickle minded to say the least.
You will now praise Younus to the skies and when he stumbles will not lose an opportunity to berate him. Have faith in your heroes for form is temporary, class is permanent.

A thorough professional, Khan has long proved his worth conclusively as a reliable batsman, who has guided Pakistan to several glorious triumphs. But PCB's corrupt and politicised officialdom hasn't treated him with the respect he deserves. Khan's epoch-making twin tons are a rude awakening for his critics.

Heartiest Congrats! Yunus Khan may u rewrite all the cricket records which u r more then capable. I was right to say in my earlier comment that the youngster flourishes under Younus' s presence in the team & at the crease. Azhar, Ahmed & Sarfaraz performances proves it. PCB didn't even bother to congratulate Yunus after his first inning ton and equalling Pakistan record. Shame on u guys.
Select him in the ODI TEAM till world Cup and come out good.

My only request to the Pakistan cricket Board is to allow Younis khan to play until he score 10,000 runs. No Pakistan player has so far scored. We hope and pray with few more centuries he would be in a position to reach that magical figure.

A well committed batting hero... I'm an Indian .. Younis is one of only few PAK cricketers I like. His hard work and commitment is greater than his talent and skills. he's never been in big controversies and a one of the gentle cricketers of gentlemen's game .
I think he answered PCB just with his batting . I wish to see him participating in IPL .

What a class act. Great ambassador of the game. A true gentlemen. I still remember when he captained Pakistan to a one day victory against India. During the post game press conference, instead of basking in the limelight, he reminded the Pakistani and Indian media, that this is just a game and it is not a big deal. Dhoni was to face the media after him, and he specifically addressed his last comments to them, asking the Indian media to take it easy with him. He told them that India is a great team and Dhoni is a great captain. He asked them to not burn Dhoni just because India lost one game. Winning and Losing is part of the game, he reminded them. What a classy player.

The dilemma in Pakistan cricket as well as other institutions is the sterility of the hierarchy, like sterile queen bee with soldier bee like Younis Khan & many others YKs in other departments to carry the baton. As long as Younis Khan & many like YKs,in other institutions have strength to survive against incompetent, whinging so called executives and perform at the same time they will label it as team work, but in case of failure only individuals are picked & persecuted. Many congratulations to Younis Khan and likes of him in other departments who are carrying the dead weight of queen bees. Hope Mr Khan you have learnt the lesson from past few years & fate of many talented stars who were engulfed by these master mind queen bees.Anyway they will remember this punch of yours if they have even a trace of dignity, which I doubt very much! Great work my Pakistani cheetah & showing us the will to survive.

These greats make us proud all the time, and soon our politically motivated board find ways to disgrace them. There was no better way to tell PCB of their poor selection by omitting Younis Khan. I am glad he let the bat do the talking for him. He is a great cricketer and a humble man.

As an Indian, I have been a long term fan of this batsman. He is too much of a gentleman cricketer for PCCB to understand. I hope this gives him a new lease of life and results in over rated players being dropped. Younis is as unlucky as Shahid Afridi is lucky. Khan gets punished for every little issue, Afridi goes scot-free even after batting like a kid in important matches.

Younis is a fine batsman but, unfortunately for Pakistan, not consistent enough. That is why, although he overtook Inzamam as the leading century maker for Pakistan in 20 fewer Tests, their batting averages are almost the same.
