LAHORE: The Pakistan Mulsim League-Quaid will raise the issue of new power meters that run 30 to 35 per cent faster than the old ones.

“How can the government charge 100 per cent electricity bill against the use of 65 per cent electricity. This is an injustice to the people who have already been suffering because of high electricity bills and loadshedding,” said PML-Q Senator Kamil Ali Agha.

Talking to reporters here on Friday, he said the PML-Q would raise the “faster meters” issue in the Senate and would not allow the PML-N government to fleece the people.

The Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission has said the distribution companies have installed new meters which run at least 30-35 per cent faster than the old ones and that the companies adjust their speed according to their needs.

Kamil Ali Agha further said the prime minister had promised the people to take back the overbilling of the last month but he had yet to honour his words.

He said the PML-Q had also filed an adjournment motion in the Senate seeking information about how many blue passports had been issued since June 2013.
