MIRPURKHAS, Sept 5: The district government has failed to establish village and neighbourhood councils as per relevant provisions of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance (SLGO) 2001 despite a lapse of over two years.

The councils were to be formed by the taluka council or otherwise by the district government.

No-confidence motions that had been adopted by union or taluka councils against Nazims or Naib Nazims are to be sent to village or neighbourhood councils for approval before issuance of a notification by the district government.

In absence of the councils, these motions are pending for final decisions.

Three such motions were approved recently in the district. The union council-2, Mirpurkhas, town unseated its Nazim Yawar Ali Khan, the Dilawar Hussain UC, Taluka Digri, adopted a motion against its Nazim Abdullah Laghari, and the Naokot UC passed the motion against its Naib Nazim, Ahmed Ali Kumbhar.
